Principal Function: The Box Truck Driver is responsible for transporting and delivering items for NOW Courier customers in a company provided vehicle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Picks up and delivers product in a timely fashion as schedule indicates.
  • Maintains reports and log books while performing duties.
  • Obeys traffic laws and follows established traffic and transportation procedures.
  • Operates and maintains equipment in a safe manner at all times.
  • Loads and unloads product for stock or delivery.
  • Interprets maps and driving directions to operate the most efficient route service.
  • Inspects truck equipment and supplies as prescribed by company procedures.
  • Reports any mechanical problems encountered with truck or equipment.
  • Verifies contents of product loads.
  • Reports delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to dispatch or manager.
  • Assists with warehouse operations, including sorting freight and dismantling shipping containers.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty according to the requirements of NOW Courier. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D.; and one year of experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience operating a 26' commercial vehicle is required.

This job operates primarily in a warehouse/vehicle environment with frequent exposure to safety/health hazard potential. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

While the offices of NOW Courier are open from 8AM to 5PM, Monday through Friday, this job may require work beyond these hours and on the weekends.
