Job Overview: The Lead Preschool Teacher is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the preschool program, including curriculum development, staff supervision, and parent communication. This individual will create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children, promoting their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.

Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Development and Implementation: Design and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum that emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning and aligns with state standards and guidelines. Regularly assess and evaluate the curriculum to ensure its effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
  2. Staff Supervision and Training: Hire, train, and supervise preschool teachers and assistants, and provide ongoing professional development opportunities to support their growth and effectiveness in the classroom.
  3. Parent Communication and Engagement: Establish and maintain open communication with parents, providing regular updates on their child’s progress and involving them in the educational process through parent-teacher conferences, newsletters, and special events.
  4. Classroom Management: Ensure a safe, clean, and organized learning environment that promotes the well-being of students and staff. Implement and enforce classroom rules and routines and address behavioral issues in a positive and supportive manner.
  5. Program Assessment and Improvement: Regularly assess the overall effectiveness of the preschool program, seeking feedback from parents, staff, and students to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
  6. Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in early childhood education, attending relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance teaching skills and stay informed about new developments in the field.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience in a preschool setting, with a proven track record of successful student outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of child development theories, best practices in early childhood education, and age-appropriate curriculum development.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and community members.
  • Experience in staff supervision and training, as well as experience in program assessment and improvement.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and diverse learning environment that supports the needs of all children.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification
