Role Overview:
The Memory Care Activity Leader is a key member of our community, responsible for maintaining a structured daily routine for our memory care residents. This role involves planning, preparing, and leading activities throughout the day, as well as setting up activities for residents to enjoy at their leisure. The Activity Leader works closely with the Life Enrichment Director and the Memory Care Director to create a specialized dementia environment that promotes engagement and well-being. Additionally, the Activity Leader partners with caregivers, equipping them to successfully lead activities in their absence.

Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare engaging activities tailored to the needs and abilities of residents living with dementia.
- Lead daily activities, ensuring residents are actively participating and benefiting from the programs.
- Maintain attendance records and monitor resident engagement levels.
- Set up and organize activity spaces within the community, creating a welcoming and stimulating environment.
- Procure necessary supplies and materials for activities.
- Collaborate with caregivers, providing guidance and support to enable them to lead activities when needed.
- Adapt activities to meet the varying stages and abilities of residents with dementia.
- Foster a positive, energetic, and inclusive atmosphere during all activities.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
Qualifications:
Experience working with individuals living with dementia is required.
- Previous experience leading activities is strongly preferred.
- Arizona caregiver certificate is a plus.
- Good driving record and willingness to drive community vehicles.
- Documentation showing freedom from tuberculosis.
- Arizona fingerprint clearance card.
- Negative screening for illegal substances.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Strong understanding of the different stages of dementia and how to utilize remaining abilities.
- Self-motivated, passionate, and outgoing personality with high social energy.
- Ability to lead groups and create meaningful experiences for residents.
- Resourceful, creative, and innovative approach to activity planning.
