Job Description:

Metas Solutions has an opening for an experienced Database Architect to consult on a program initiative to establish a modernized public health (PH) data ecosystem, including efforts to modernize infrastructure and system needs to help federal, state, tribal, local, and territorial (STLT). Global public health organizations and institutions make decisions about necessary improvements that will allow data to flow more seamlessly.


Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement database solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Evaluate existing database systems and propose performance, scalability, and reliability improvements.
  • Develop database models and schemas to support application development and data analytics.
  • Optimize database queries and stored procedures for maximum efficiency and performance.
  • Define data standards and best practices for database design, development, and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and business analysts to understand data requirements and ensure alignment with database solutions.
  • Perform database monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning to maintain optimal database performance.
  • Implement data security measures and access controls to protect sensitive information.
  • Conduct regular backups and disaster recovery planning to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in database management and recommend innovative solutions to enhance our database systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Entry level to Senior level experience as a Database Architect or similar role.
  • Proven experience as a Database Architect or in a similar role.
  • Expertise in database design, data modeling, and database management systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
  • Proficiency in SQL programming and database optimization techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of data security principles and practices.
  • Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database) is a plus.
  • Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate are desirable.
