Medication Technician

Part Time 32 hours / 4 days

Pay Rate: $25.19 + $2,000 sign on bonus

NOC shift (11:00 pm - 7:30 am), 8 hours per day, requires one weekend shift

Medication Technician Overview:

For more than 150 years, San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living has been a leader in the provision of homes and services for the aging Bay Area Jewish community and San Franciscans. Driven by the Jewish values of reverence for aging and inclusiveness, we designed and built Frank Residences, our Assisted Living community, to welcome and enrich the lives of older adults of all faiths and beliefs. The Medication Technician coordinates resident care related to medication procurement, administration, and documentation. Provides complete supervision of the medication room, pass techniques and, supervision/provision of care related to medication in the community.

What you’ll do as a Medication Technician:

The Medication Technician is part of the Health & Wellness department, and proves general support to the care team.

  • Maintain resident charts. Keeps documentation current for example community forms, licensing documentation, physician order, and incident reports.
  • Ensure all medication documentation is current and correct, including medication administration forms, physician orders (written/telephone), and change orders. Oversee community absence medication program.
  • Communicates resident status changes to LVN/RN Supervisor, Director of Health & Wellness, and/or Administrator.
  • Ensure the medication room is completely stocked with all required continuous, PRN, over-the-counter, and other medications as ordered by the physician.
  • Monitor psychotropic medication use is consistent with physician orders, observing whether resident behaviors warrant the use of medication.

For you to be a successful Medication Technician:

  • Successful completion of Med Tech training program preferred
  • CPR Certified preferred
  • Minimum of six months experience in long-term care, home care, or a related field
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and follow instructions in English and perform simple arithmetic.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office or willingness to learn within 90 days of employment for maintaining proper documentation of care provided during shift.
