Migrant In-Home Summer Teacher

**IU5's Migrant Education Program is seeking in-home teachers to provide lessons to migrant students in Erie, Crawford, Warren, Mercer, Venango, Lawrence, Clarion, and Butler Counties. In-home programming runs from June 22 - August 31, 2024. Candidates should be available for Onboarding and In-Service June 17-21, 2024.

*Teachers are not required to work for the entire timeframe of in-home programming and individual schedules can be determined based on need and availability.

Position Summary:

The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit 5's Migrant Education Program is seeking in-home teachers for the summer session. The in-home teachers will provide Reading, Math, and other instruction to migratory students at their homes. The primary goal of the Migrant Education Program is to ensure that all migrant students reach challenging academic standards. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers to make a lasting impact with diverse students The part-time, contracted position reports to the Migrant Student Support Specialists and Program Supervisors.

Required Qualifications:

• Current valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate
• Required state clearances to work with students
• Must hold a valid driver's license in the individual's state of residence
• Reliable transportation

Desired Qualifications:

• Teaching experience preferred
• Experience working with migratory students and/or English Language Learners

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Create and utilize lesson plans following the Pennsylvania Department of Education guidelines
• Provide instruction to migrant students at their homes
• Accompany students during educational activities
• Create a learning environment appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs and abilities of individual students
• Maintain accurate and complete records for each student
• Implement and enforce all policies and rules
• Participate in required professional development
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, teacher aides, coordinators, and supervisors
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Ability to travel to students' homes and provide math, reading, and other instruction one-on-one and in a small group setting
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and/or independently with minimal supervision
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Knowledge of state and federal laws that impact the organization

Work Environment:

This job operates in student homes. Incumbent must have the ability to travel to students' homes and provide math, reading, and other instruction one-on-one and in a small group setting. Candidates are required to have reliable transportation to arrive on time to the teaching location.
