Salt Pub is a small family-owned hotel and pub operation in the small coastal fishing Port of Ilwaco in SouthWest Washington. Our kitchen is a from-scratch kitchen that puts out hearty and healthy food. 

The kitchen overlooks the Columbia River, is not too hot, easy to clean, organized and staffed by talented, pleasant people.

We are looking for someone that is good at AND enjoys working in a commercial kitchen.

Position Details.

  • Able and willing to cook on the line
  • Working with kitchen staff on recipe development, specials etc
  • Ordering and stocking food/supplies
  • Scheduling and training staff
  • Oversee kitchen / pub close 3-5 nights per week
  • Overseeing required kitchen/equipment maintenance and optimization
  • Overseeing required cleaning and being hands on with Kitchen cleanliness/hygiene
  • Developing catering/event menus and working with staff to execute on banquets and events.
  • Reporting Key Performance Indicators; Food Cost, Cost of Goods Sold, Labor etc. to GM and working to keep those numbers in-line 

This position can be tailored to fit for a senior kitchen person that has recent and relevant experience in all of the list areas. but also involves your creativity and potential to be whatever you want to to be if you have ambition and gumption. Recipe development, menu design, kitchen and staff management, prep, catering, teaching and hotel-side experience etc.

How to Become Part of Salt Pub

Somewhat important - A brief resume or list of hospitality-related experience from the last few years.

Very Important - Short statement, can be as short as 1-paragraph, outlining your interest in the job.

Important for interview - Demonstrate research of business and the area website/reviews etc. Please include reasons for wanting to work in the Ilwaco area.

  • Be available for 15 minute phone-interview, focused on your work-related goals and previous cooking experience.
  • Be available for paid Stage of an 8-12 hour shift on a Friday or Saturday. *This is to make sure we are a good fit for you as much as the other way around. We want you to want to work here and be successful.
  • Following paid stage we will negotiate your training ($16/hr ish) and post training wage based on your performance (more$)

Additional Details

Formal culinary training is a plus, but not required - please tell us about it, 

Catering experience is also a bonus.

Tell us about your other life experience travel, education, volunteering, military, educational goals and favorite books.

Show / Get your WA food handlers card and demonstrate relevant hygiene and food handling skills

Schedule can be flexed between 20 to 40+ hrs per week, but generally always involve Saturdays.
