Duties:

As a Registered Nurse in the Labor & Delivery department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to expectant mothers and their newborns. Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Maternal and Child Care: Provide comprehensive care for patients during labor and delivery, including monitoring the progress of labor, assisting with deliveries, and providing postnatal care for both the mother and the newborn.
  • IV Insertion and Phlebotomy: Perform IV insertions and draw blood as required for patient care.
  • Conscious Sedation: Administer conscious sedation as needed during labor and delivery procedures.
  • Patient Assessment and Monitoring: Continuously monitor and assess the health of patients and their babies, responding to any changes in their condition.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care, including monitoring vital signs, documenting labor progress, and recording interventions.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care for patients.
  • Patient and Family Education: Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to handle emergencies during labor and delivery, including performing life-saving measures if necessary.
Skills:
  • Maternal and Child Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in maternal and child healthcare.
  • IV Insertion and Phlebotomy: Proficient in IV insertion and phlebotomy techniques.
  • Conscious Sedation: Experience in administering conscious sedation.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Critical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills to assess patient conditions and provide appropriate care.
Education:
  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Preferred: Advanced certifications or training related to Labor & Delivery.

  • Required:
    • New York State RN License
    • ACLS - AHA
    • BLS - AHA
    • NRP Certified
    • Phlebotomist Certification
Languages:
  • English (Speak, Read, Write)
Schedule:
  • Hours Per Week: 36.00 hours

  • Days Per Week: 3.00 days
  • Shift: Rotating weekends and holidays required.
