Position Summary:
The Heavy Equipment Manager coordinates all equipment maintenance, oversight, moves and material deliveries.
Essential Functions:
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and provide guidance to Mechanics on repairs
- Review service/preventative maintenance records for all trucks, trailers, and equipment
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Mechanics when to work on or service machines and equipment pick ups
- Track equipment quality throughout the product’s lifetime and make recommendations for repair/replace to upper management
- Solicit pricing and negotiations for all new large tools, trucks, trailers, and equipment
- Utilize Samsara, Gauge, CAT Vision Link and OnStar to maintain location and utilization of assets
- Work with Project Managers and Owners on equipment wish list each year
- Prepare a cost benefit analysis on the service agreements with CAT & John Deere
- Coordinate estimates for current value of equipment for insurance purposes every two years
- Maintain up to date master list of all vehicles and equipment
- Notify insurance of any new equipment
- Research, recommend, and implement software as needed to improve efficiency of the position
- Trucking dispatch - coordinate and schedule daily all 14,000 pound and below tag trails to be loaded and ready for departure and return; constant coordination with Project Managers and Foreman on rock/gravel and equipment needs
- For rock/gravel loads coordinate with the trucker the closest gravel pit/dock to job
- Process new CDL hires
- Manage all company Ipasses, gas cards
- Review and maintenance of license plates, vehicle inspections, warrantees/recalls and wide load permits on all trucks and trailers
- Safety assurance on trucks, trailers, and equipment
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- At least five years of experience with heavy equipment
- High school diploma required
- Conducts oneself in a professional manner with responsibility, integrity, accountability and excellence
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative; always finds a way to be productive, takes pride in their work
- Works well as a team member; places the success of the team above self interest
- Strong organizational skills are required
- Must be able to determine and prioritize workload
- Demonstrated ability to think critically using logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions
- Knowledge of the construction industry required
- Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Ability to learn new technologies
- Demonstrated ability to make sound, fiscally prudent business decisions
- Ability to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision and under tight deadlines
