Position: Senior Recreation Program Leader
Department: Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Community Services
Hourly Range: $22.04 - $25.51
Classification: Temporary
Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible
Job Summary:
This position would fall under the PARCS department; specifically, the Community Services division. The Community Services division offers relative programming for all ages in the community by connecting residents with programming, activities, resources, and community events. Under moderate supervision, if chosen, the Sr. Recreation Program Leader would provide direction; organize, and conduct a variety of recreational and community services programs, including, but not limited to, after-school programming, day camps, youth programs, youth activities, and special events. Sr. Program Leaders are expected to work both independently and with a team; and exercise judgment and initiative. The Sr. Recreation Program Leader for this opening is responsible for developing and promoting after-school programs.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May overseer responsibilities over Recreation Program Leaders
Example of Duties & Responsibilities:
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assists in the development, promotion, and implementation of a diversified community service program for all ages; evaluates program effectiveness; and recommends changes
- Assists in the activities of staff and volunteers; may plan, assign, train, direct, and monitor staff duties
- Assist in the scheduling, operation, set-up and daily maintenance of City programs
- Adhere by and enforce safety rules and regulations
- Maintain orderly participant conduct at various events and/or program
- Process class and program registrations using computer software
- Provide minor first aid to program participants/spectators and/or perform related first aid/ emergency techniques
- Provides support duties for child development.
- Assists children in activities, nutrition and personal care needs.
- Serves meals and snacks based on established guidelines
- Performs clean-up and food storage duties
- Prepares instructional crafts and other materials, participates in, and encourages play activities with other children
- May assist in providing tutorial and/or remedial activities in small groups
- Opens, secures, and cleans program areas before and after program use; prepares program areas for scheduled activities and events.
- Participate in and/or lead staff meetings, family conferences, and other special meetings; observes and monitors family conditions and notifies coordinator/supervisor of concerns as appropriate.
- Maintain required and appropriate documentation, including observation notes, logs, and other records.
- Aid in training and coaching of Recreation Program Leaders and work closely with coordinator to evaluate performance
- Plan for and maintain program supplies and materials; monitor required resources and initiate purchases of supplies and equipment
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
