As a ministry of First Baptist Church of Naples, the staff of First Baptist Academy must meet the standards of employment that are required by the church whereby each employee must feel a "call" into this ministry work. In addition, as educators, we hire the most qualified and certified teachers who profess Christ as Savior and who are able to meet the standards of Good Character set forth by this ministry.


POSITION OBJECTIVE: Effectively teach choir to elementary, middle and high school students using the approved curriculum and supplementary materials to enhance student learning.

QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS: The employee is a Christian with an authentic and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ in both his or her professional and personal life with a calling and commitment to Christian education. Must have excellent interpersonal and computer skills, the ability to present information concisely and effectively, confidentially handle sensitive information, organize and prioritize work, multi-task and work independently with little supervision, and must be a team player.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor of Arts in music education or vocal performance. A minimum of three years of experience in a teaching position is preferred. Proficiency in classroom teaching and choral performance.

  • Work with colleagues in a team setting.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing a vision for a thriving Middle School and High School choir program that will motivate students to perform with excellence.
  • Utilize a broad variety of teaching methods to match student learning styles to teach vocal techniques, music notation, music reading, and listening skills to prepare students for performance opportunities.
  • Develop strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and parents that will keep students in the choir program.
  • Maintain a close personal walk with the Lord evidenced by your lifestyle.
  • Develop a creative curriculum for the lower elementary general music classes (Pre-K thru 2nd Grade) utilizing available resources including; technology, Orff instruments, drums and percussion instruments, handbells, keyboard lab, recorders, and the music library.
  • Collaborate with elementary classroom teachers for chapels and special events.
  • Plan and implement a weekly time of worship in elementary Chapel services.
  • Model cooperative, respectful, responsible, and spiritually-minded behavior.
  • Regularly assess student progress to provide differentiated instruction.
  • Maintain proper classroom management and discipline, utilizing the Matthew 18 principle of conflict resolution.
  • Maintain a program of individual professional growth. Florida Music Educators Association and its affiliate group membership and conference attendance are expected yearly.
  • Supervise and/or lead extra-curricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned.
  • Plan and implement biblically integrated lessons.
  • Promote First Baptist Academy, the Fine Arts department, and Kingdom Education.
  • Punctuality is expected in daily report time, assigned duties, lesson planning, and paperwork.
  • Implement systems, policies, and procedures as outlined by the administration.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principals or Fine Arts Music Coordinator.
