Average hourly pay: $28/hr

Pay Range: $34,000/yr - $100,000/yr

Position Summary

Construction Technicians perform tasks involving physical labor on projects/job sites. May operate a variety of hand and power tools. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, clean up rubble and debris and remove waste materials. May assist other technicians.

Primary Responsibilities/Tasks:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Performing a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor on projects/job sites; performing manual work in preparing surfaces for paving
  • Shoveling dirt, asphalt, concrete, and/or using with trenching machine
  • Assisting in patching asphalt with cold patch; excavating and filling trenches and ditches
  • Maintaining a clean job site: picking up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards
  • Unclogging clogged conduits, repairing damaged conduits.
  • Handling and storing materials
  • Loading and unloading trucks and hauling and hoisting materials
  • Running advance aerial drop (Coax) when necessary
  • Pulling coax/cat5 lines through occupied conduits
  • Running coax/cat5 lines through confined spaces (crawl spaces/attics/drop ceilings)
  • Terminating Coax/cat5 lines
  • Utilizing proper traffic control when required to cross major streets
  • Ensuring that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed; bringing problems to the attention of the Operations Manager, Safety Director, or HR
  • All other duties as assigned

Candidate Requirements:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid and appropriate state driver's license (DMV records pulled)
  • Must be willing to work weekends
  • GED or High School Diploma required
  • Minimum 1 year experience required
  • Personal truck, van or SUV is required for work capable of safely carrying a 28 ft extension ladder, necessary tools, and equipment.
  • MUST maintain constant vehicle insurance and registration
  • Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions
  • Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in construction work
  • Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Ability to work well alone and in teams
  • MUST possess good time management skills
  • Must not be afraid of heights
  • Accurately complete work orders, forms and reports as required
  • Maintain the flexibility to vary workload to meet constantly changing demands
  • Possess a positive and professional attitude and maintain a presentable appearance
  • Ability to use communication devices as needed to complete work orders
  • Basic computer skills are required

Pay: $16.78/hr + weekly incentive + mileage reimbursement. Base hourly rate plus weekly incentive which is based on work performed on all jobs completed. Average hourly rate for technicians is $28/hr after incentive has been added.

Required License or Certification:

Driver's License

Upon completion of the initial PAID TRAINING CLASS, each graduate will receive all of the necessary tools needed to perform the job.
