Position Overview for Instrumentation & Electrical Technician: We are seeking a skilled Electrical/Instrumentation Maintenance Technician to join our client's team in their Electrical and Controls Department. This role will be involved in the day-to-day electrical and instrumentation operations, and allow for a growth environment where individuals can gain valuable experience working with some of the most state of the art technology.

Key Responsibilities for Instrumentation & Electrical Technician:

  • Recommend improvements or upgrades to equipment to enhance operations and reliability.
  • Interpret and understand electrical and mechanical drawings and documentation.
  • Effectively communicate, both written and orally, with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams.
  • Actively participate in plant safety and quality initiatives.
  • Assist in the development and adherence to safety, environmental, quality, and production procedures and policies.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical components, including rotating equipment, variable frequency drives, motor controls, switchgear, and battery systems.
  • Apply standard electrical work practices and guidelines, including those from the National Fire Protection Association (NEC) and IEEE, to ensure code-compliant and high-quality electrical systems.
  • Collaborate as part of a team or work independently to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with electrical power and control systems, including process control component repairs.
  • Utilize standard electrical testing equipment, such as voltmeters, Trex, 475 Heart communicators, and process meters.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, or replace equipment and instruments, and demonstrate a solid understanding of AD/DC circuit theory.
  • Participate in plant safety programs and maintain a strong focus on safety.
  • Display strong mechanical skills and proficiency with manual and powered tools, with the ability to plan and execute tasks effectively.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications and exhibit strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.

Required Experience and Skills for Instrumentation & Electrical Technician:

  • At least two years of industrial experience.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to make informed decisions with limited information and demonstrate creativity and flexibility.
  • Excellent mechanical skills, troubleshooting abilities, and the capability to plan tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees, management, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in plant electrical systems, including motor controls and voltage levels ranging from 24 VDC to 480AC.
  • Familiarity with various electrical classifications, including Class I Division I, and Class II Division 1 & II.
  • Basic computer skills and a knowledge of production plant equipment and their interaction with process controls and instrumentation.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for training as required.

Training Requirements for Instrumentation & Electrical Technician:

  • On-the-job training to acquire necessary skills and certifications is available.
  • Participation in company-specific operational training.
  • Equipment training may include JLP, Forklift, Non-DOT Truck, Reach Lift, and Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.

Physical Requirements for Instrumentation & Electrical Technician:

  • Ability to move around the worksite, ascend/descend stairs, and maintain prolonged periods of standing, sitting, stooping, and bending.
  • Capability to operate machinery at varying heights, including work on ladders, scaffolding, or in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift and transport materials weighing up to 40 pounds frequently, up to 55 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds overhead.
  • Willingness to wear respirators as required.
  • Ability to walk up to two miles during the workday over uneven surfaces, including railroad tracks.

***This position will provide opportunity for frequent overtime pay, along with per diem while traveling.***
