POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Ropes Coordinator will manage and coordinator ropes course activities for camp ropes programming and training for camp staff. Ensure the safety of all campers and staff during ropes programs.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • In collaboration with the Camp Directors/Outdoor Educational Director and staff create a fun and engaging ropes and team building programs for all ages. • Maintains a safe environment and ensures all ropes staff adhere to the ropes course safety rules. • Monitors the ropes programming to ensure they are being delivered according to the established schedule. • Schedules ropes staff accordingly for specialty camp weeks and special events. • Engages in positive rapport and open communication with staff, campers, and parents/guardians. • Maintains a face count of campers. • Is attentive to the feelings and emotions of campers and responds or intervenes appropriately. • Promotes the unique talents and diverse abilities of campers by establishing a welcoming environment. • Monitors interactions between campers to ensure healthy dialogue and offers guidance on conflict resolution as needed. • Attends all mandatory YMCA staff meetings, team meetings and staff trainings. • Abides by all camp and YMCA policies & procedures. • Actively promotes camp and the Attleboro YMCA. • Assists with other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS • Must be at least 22 years old • Minimum of 2 years of ropes experience • Excellent organization skills • Instructor-level certification preferred • Appropriate ropes course certification or willing to obtain certification. • A positive, friendly attitude and strong interpersonal skills • A level of professionalism and maturity that reflects the serious nature of aquatics safety and aligns with the YMCA’s core values & mission • Ability to stay calm and respond effectively in an emergency • Quick and effective decision-making skills and strong communication skills • Must maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information


WORK ENVIROMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Ability to walk, stand, and sit for long periods of time and in extreme weather conditions • Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling and walking • Ability to speak concisely and communicate effectively • Maintain high-level of physical and mental readiness
