Job Title: Pool Technician

Rate: $27.61-$27.81

Labor Grade: 8

Shift: Swing - includes weekend hours


Duties, Responsibilities and Tasks:

Responsible for daily airfield maintenance and operations activities which include, but are not limited to building/structural repairs and maintenance, grass cutting, pavement patching, airfield, weed control, minor vehicle/equipment repair and servicing, fence repair, snow and ice control operations, monitor runway conditions and other activities appropriate with climatic conditions, to include any other activities or duties that may be required and directed under any Federal Aviation Regulations


Responsible for conducting airport perimeter security checks and periodic surveillance activities


Responsible for daily maintenance of the Airport Terminal Building by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing, waxing floors, cleaning restrooms, washing windows and walls, emptying trash, changing light bulbs, policing the grounds, shoveling snow and cutting grass around the terminal building, assisting general public as needed, and any other minor maintenance or custodial duties as required


Assumes responsibility for all departmental equipment and property assigned or issued for his/her use


Must have the ability to communicate by radio


Operates heavy equipment, including dump truck, snow plow, tractor, etc for extended periods of time


Performs such other duties as may be required by state law, city ordinance or departmental policy and procedure or as may be assigned by a Supervisor


May be required to attend seminars, meetings, and training sessions which may require travel and overnight stay


May be required to carry a City cell phone as needed; May be required to answer and direct telephone calls from the public before and after normal business hours to accommodate the public


Must perform assigned duties with significant independence.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relations with other city employees, other law enforcement agencies, civic leaders, and the general public and other governmental agencies


Ability to become thoroughly familiar with the policies, procedures, rules and regulations of the Quincy Regional Airport and the Federal Aviation Administration


Ability to understand and execute moderately complex oral or written directions and to prepare clear and comprehensive written reports if needed


Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and to restrict the use of such information to work duties

Requires ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally in the English language



Job Qualifications and Selection Criteria:

Must possess an Illinois CDL class B Driver's License with an Air Brake Option


Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation and maintain a clean background investigation in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.


Must possess a valid State of Illinois FOID Card


Must be able to successfully complete the training program prescribed by the Airport Manager or City Administration and pass any required test


Must be able to meet and deal with the public in a courteous, professional and effective manner.


Working Conditions:

Some responsibilities may call for elevated levels of physically demanding and strenuous activity; these conditions require exerting up to 25 lbs. of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, or pull


The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and is frequently required to stoop or kneel, and lift and/or move up to 70 lbs.


Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for lengths of time as well as getting in and out of the equipment repeatedly through their working day


Will be exposed all types of weather conditions
