CFP Physicians Group is looking for an experienced Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist to join our team. We are looking to fill one position at our in-house lab located in a large primary care office.

Laboratory responsibilities:

  • Patient tests, records and charts
  • Perform proper phlebotomy technique.
  • Accurately view and transmit orders.
  • Correlate test request with proper collection media.
  • Perform waived testing if necessary and document required Quality Control.
  • Assist providers in determining specific tests to be performed and/or availability of tests.
  • Accurately process specimens and send out to correct reference lab.
  • Accurately verify billing.
  • Verify required consents are documented.
  • Enter specified results accurately.
  • Reporting of test results
  • Receive and log reports from reference lab.
  • Report abnormalities and critical values to provider.
  • Monitor electronic interface.
  • Assist with running of calibration and controls of sample analyzers as needed.
  • Order supplies as needed, using CHC purchasing procedures.
  • Participate in training of students or staff as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must have a compassion and understanding for all patients and believe that patient care is paramount.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality according to HIPAA standards.
  • Must be highly flexible and able to accommodate changing needs of the department.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Must have basic computer skills, including Word and Excel and be proficient with multi-line phone.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize. Must pay attention to detail while remaining focused in a busy environment.

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification preferred
  • At least 6 months prior experience
