Hours: This is a full-time, hourly position. M-F

Salary: $54 per hour

Education: Licensed Registered Nurse in California required.

JOB SUMMARY

The Lead Registered Nurse will provide oversight and ensure that the LVNs caseloads and schedules are balanced. Will work with the Program Manager and other leads on ensuring that the LVNs have training and support necessary for their positions. Also responsible for delivery of a full range of RN/LVN related services including: dispensing medications, taking and recording patients' vital signs, reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in charge.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead RN assesses ongoing symptomatology and provides crisis intervention as needed.
  • The Lead RN maintains the nursing schedule and in coordination with the Program Manager assigns duties to ensure adequate coverage during business hours, distributes and ensures completion of nurse calls, orders labs, reviews labs, reports abnormal labs to the MD/NP and enters labs into the REM system as indicated.
  • Approves stand by appointments, reviews pharmacy and lab invoices, initiates corrections as needed and ensures accurate invoicing.
  • Will consult with the Lead Clinician and the MD/NP to implement new policies and procedures, assists with and oversees preparation for successful county and state audits; assists, participates in or assigns McFloop audits.
  • Assumes an active role on the treatment team, providing appropriate input as needed.
  • Acts as the point of contact for clinicians for client planning and/or consultation.
  • Monitors clients in the Patient Assistance program on an Excel spreadsheet and makes sure the paperwork is complete and information is up to date.
  • Completes all charting and documentation in the electronic health records as contractually required and in a timely manner as dictated by program requirements.
  • Coordinates medication orders and refills with pharmacies.
  • Responds promptly to client calls regarding medication issues.
  • Provides client education on medications and their side effects.
  • Dispenses and administers prescribed medications by various routes.
  • Collaborates with Psychiatrist and Registered Nurse to monitor client well-being and medication compliance along with medication efficacy and side effects.
  • Responds appropriately to medical emergencies.
  • Takes and records vital signs.
  • Initiates appropriate and timely interventions on an ongoing basis; provides crisis intervention as needed.
  • Knowledge of MHS and County procedure manuals and an ability to interpret these effectively to staff, family members and community providers.
  • Assist Psychiatrist in implementation of medication algorithms such as SanDMAP if required by funding source.
  • Enter client notes and other data into the electronic health record using paper documentation that is legible, clear, and concise when the computer system is down.
  • Comply with all MHS and program rules, policies and procedures including HIPAA standards.


QUALIFICATIONS

• Licensed Registered Nurse in California required.

• Valid CA driver’s license and current auto insurance per contract requirements required.

• Experience providing mental health and/or substance abuse services preferred.

• Cultural competency understanding required. Bilingual preferred.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and EHR software preferred.
