Job Summary:

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to serve as an important member of the clinical team by assisting the providers with patient care. The Medical Assistant will create an atmosphere that makes the patient feel welcome and safe and ensures the patient has a positive and professional experience that reflects our high standards for care. To be successful in this position, the medical assistant must be cheerful, friendly, polite, tactful, and professional in appearance and manner.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients to and from exam room and review medical history to make sure it is complete and updated.
  • Prepare exam rooms by cleaning and setting up room for anticipated procedure, sterilizing instruments, preparing an adequate supply of surgical trays, and anticipating provider(s) needs.
  • Fulfill patient care responsibilities by assisting provider with exams and procedures and making and returning calls to and from patients, pharmacies, and outside providers in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the clinic is fully stocked with an adequate inventory of supplies and medications.
  • Prepare pathology and laboratory specimens and complete related requisition forms and logs.
  • Document medical information and instructions in EMR clearly, comprehensively, and accurately.
  • Respond to patient questions in office and on phone as instructed and relay the provider’s messages and instructions.
  • Clean, sterilize, and inventory all medical equipment and instrument; keep appropriate records of maintenance program.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control policies.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information, including compliance with HIPAA privacy standards.
  • Be knowledgeable of office financial policies and fees.
  • Schedule appointments for patients with other specialists, fax appropriate records, and obtain pre-authorizations for referrals or medications, if necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Medical Terminology knowledge.
  • 1-2 years' experience in a medical office (dermatology practice preferred)
