With almost 400 students, it is one of the largest K-12 Christian schools in the Northeast and draws students from numerous towns across the state. We are seeking Substitute Teachers (K-12) who will be responsible for operating a safe, orderly, and positive classroom environment while the regular teacher is absent. They will follow the teacher’s lesson plans and equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to function as mature, responsible Christians in accordance with the school mission statement.


Preference to candidates applying that have multiple day availability as well as the willingness to accept last minute substitute assignments (less than 24 hour notice and same day requests)

Job Requirements

  • A clear understanding and acceptance of basic Biblical principles
  • An understanding of and adherence to the school’s Statement of Faith
  • A love for and understanding of children and young people
  • Maturity
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Must provide current background check

Pay Rates for Assignments

  • Regular: $120/full day or $60/half day
  • Long-term teaching assignments of greater than 10 days, for an absent regular teacher: $150/full days or $75/half day
  • 24 Hour Contingency (Last Minute): $130/full day or $64/half day

If a cancellation on the part of CHS occurs within 24 hours, the substitute will still be paid time for expected service even if service does not occur (example: teacher’s jury duty was cancelled the night before).
