DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES-
- Monitor and control building access by greeting all incoming patients/visitors.
- Direct to the pertinent registration area, by utilizing EMR schedule when needed and referring to daily huddle.
- Assist with walk-in requests, direct/assist patients in completing necessary form(s) and reassure patient that request will be addressed
- Monitor surveillance systems (CCTV) and alarms at Middle Street and Northview Heights in order to identify/report/respond to suspicious activity. This may include, but is not limited to: unauthorized vehicles, people moving through restricted areas, patients who seem lost, aggressive body language/behavior, altercations, suspicious packages, or non-working cameras. Alert Facilities/Security Manager and/or Clinical Director and/or COO when appropriate and contact 911 if needed.
- Keep security all windows, doors, stairwells, offices, clinical and storage spaces.
- Conduct routine rounds of premises during business hours. Document rounds and report any concerning observations to Facilities/Security Manager and COO.
- De-escalate and provide verbal warning to difficult patients/family members in the building that violate visitor conduct policy.
- Escort individuals out of building if necessary. Alert Facilities/Security Manager and COO.
- De-escalate any conflicts between staff members.
- Endeavor to prevent vandalism, theft, fire and disturbances within the facility; contact 911 if threats warrant emergency response.
- Provide back-up to Facilities/Security Manager when Manager not on site.
- Conduct risk assessments of premises. Identify any risks or potential risks that may compromise life safety, building safety and/or the integrity of the building. This includes, but is not limited to: maintenance issues, hazards (i.e. trip and fall, electrical issues, occupational and environmental concerns) that must be reported to Facilities/Security Manager; notify 911 in case of an emergency.
- Provide direct assistance to Facilities/Security Manager in collaboration with Chief Operations Officer in the development and improvement of safety processes and procedures, including safety training for staff.
- Respond to calls for assistance, crisis, alarms, elevator shutdowns and emergency situations and call for help when needed.
- Submit timely occurrence/incident reports and service requests.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES-
- Establish and maintain good rapport and cooperative relationships with medical staff, clinicians, co-workers, supervisors, and other NSCHC employees.
- Must have excellent people and customer service skills
- Keen observation skills are required
- Ability to accurately relay information and communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a tactful and courteous manner with peers, department management, physicians, and other healthcare professionals required.
- Attends a minimum of one outreach event per calendar year
- Commitment to NSCHC faith-based mission to provide care to all who request it, without judgment
QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED FOR EMPLOYMENT) -
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience as a Security or Police Officer required.
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
- Annual influenza vaccine
- CPR/BLS for adult and child
