Direct Supervisor of: Contract Law Enforcement Officers, Safety Team Staff, and Safety Team Volunteers
Tier: Program Leader
Work Schedule: Sunday - Thursday
Purpose of This Position
The vision of Highland Park Presbyterian Church is to lead all generations to become transformed followers of Jesus, for the flourishing of our city and beyond.
The Facilities Department, with the Safety team, seeks to advance and support that vision through facilitating a safe campus and safe off-campus venues for Covenant Partners and guests to worship, serve and fellowship.
The Campus Safety Manager supports the Facilities Department and the vision for Highland Park Presbyterian Church by providing an overall safety strategy, ensuring that Covenant Partners and guests are provided a safe environment in which to explore faith and grow as they become transformed followers of Jesus.
Desired Results/Impact of This Position
- A strong Safety Team of Covenant Partners and LEOs is consistently available and equipped each Sunday/Special Events; all having satisfactorily completed Basic Church Safety Officer Training and AED/CPR-PED and Adult/1st Aid and Stop the Bleed Training
- Shuttle Cart Service is operating in an efficient and safe manner, security perimeter of the campus has been extended to include all routes in which HP Pres shuttle carts transport Covenant Partners and guests
- Medical Team is available and prepared for Sunday morning services
- Positive feedback from staff and congregation regarding customer service
Key Responsibilities
- Grow the team while ensuring a positive atmosphere during the services/special events
- Collaborate with First Responders from University Park, Dallas County, Highland Park, City of Dallas, and US DHS to be involved with Safety Team volunteers and LEO contractors
- Ongoing recruitment for Safety Team and Medical Team
- Ensure ongoing and appropriate training
- Facilitate DPS’s Private Security Board Level III/IV Security Training certification for all Safety Team members for insurance coverage requirements, if necessary
- Engage local First Responders at least quarterly on the HP Pres Campus
- Ensure CDC Safety Protocols followed
- Ensure sanitizing stations available
- Engage sufficient Off-Duty Law Enforcement Officers for Sundays and special events
- Communicates with high tone with all stakeholders
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervision of the Safety Team Full Time Staff and volunteers
- Motivates and empowers team members; sets expectations
- Create a culture of training within the Safety Team
- Holds regularly scheduled team meetings and keeps team informed
- Schedules Quarterly training sessions with Safety Team
- Holds Safety team, volunteers and contractors accountable to outcomes and safety protocols
- Approves and oversees weekly schedule of Safety Team, volunteers, and contractors
- Submits LEO contractor invoices to Finance
Education, Experience, Skill, Ability Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- Security Certification – Level IV PPO, Peace Officer Certification, or Military Police/Intel experience
- Five years of Security, Police or Military experience
- Proficiency in report writing, policies, procedures, and post orders
- Knowledge and Skills: Microsoft office, good interpersonal skills, conflict intervention, radio communications, First Aid and CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed, LTC
Working Conditions
- Frequent lifting under 50 lbs, standing for long periods
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure
