Job DescriptionJob DescriptionTidal Basin is the nation’s premier provider of integrated preparedness, emergency response management, and disaster recovery consulting services. We are growing our team and have opportunities for Emergency Management professionals to join our team providing support in an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) as an Operations Specialist supporting communities impacted by a disaster event. The Operations Section is responsible for the management of all operations directly applicable to the primary mission and may be required to meet established experience and certification requirements. If not a current resident of Maui, the ideal candidate must be able to deploy within 24 to 72 hours of assignment. This is a temporary employment opportunity.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Significant, on-going experience in strategy and tactics related to the incident scenario (e.g., EOC Operations Section Chief) and experience in emergency management planning and EOC support.
  • Providing functional experience in incident operations at the level or levels of government commensurate with the scope of the incident.
  • Supporting the development and management of the Operations Section to accomplish the incident objectives set by the Incident Commander.
  • Providing knowledge of the functional elements within the ICS, especially those within the Operations Section.
  • Providing required guidance in organizing and directing others in working toward common goals.
Required Skill and Competencies:
  • Must possess a clear understanding of the mission work order process and the various implementation elements required.
  • Must be able to travel as needed, sometimes to multiple locations daily, as part of your assigned duties.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Provide excellent written and verbal communications to varying audiences.
  • Ability to remain calm and poised under pressure, remaining focused when working to meet deadlines.
  • Must be comfortable working in ambiguous environments: EOC, field offices, etc.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of educational and/or operational experience.
  • Experience in managing complex incidents and emergency responses.
  • Experience in working with governmental (local, state, federal) and non-governmental partners.
  • Experience working in an EOC or as part of an Incident Management Team (IMT), preferred.
  • Experience or certification as an Operations Section Chief, Planning Section Chief, or Logistics Section Chief, preferred.
  • Experience in the knowledge of emergency communications (COM-T, COM-L) is a plus.
Local hire preferred.

The hourly pay range is $40-45/hr.
