Description

The Electronics Technician focuses on the inspection, testing, and repairing of printed circuit board assemblies within the Electronic Engine Controls department. This includes soldering and desoldering skills for the purpose of board modifications and troubleshooting circuit boards for supporting manufacturing / production / assembly / R&D.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) year Technical Degree (EET) preferred but not required.
  • Computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point) and specialized microprocessor programming software.
  • Verbal and Written Communication skills (including email correspondence).
  • Time Management skills.
  • Ability to use hand tools.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing-oriented team environment.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Performs detailed physical inspections of circuit boards including visual inspections of solder joints and discreet components and wires. [Ability to read schematics.]
  • Tests and modifies circuit boards per work instructions.
  • Performs documentation and data entry tasks.
  • Uses various test fixtures.
  • Performs soldering operations using proper technique. [Experience with different soldering materials including soldering irons, tips, solder, flux, etc.]
  • Adjusts and replaces defective circuitry and electronic components.
  • Assists with prototypes.
  • Light assembly of electronic devices and products.

Equipment or Machines Used

  • Circuit board testing equipment (DMM, Oscilliscope, other common test meters).
  • Soldering, desoldering, magnification equipment.
  • Computer equipped with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook for email purposes.

Helpful Skills/Knowledge

  • Some software experience is a plus.
  • Enjoys designing and building things.
  • Desire to learn and grow.
