Job Summary: Under general direction of the Chief Student Services Officer, the incumbent manages all aspects of the residential program, including overseeing the care and needs of all residential students; organizes housing accommodations for new and continuing students; performs student conduct investigations; responds to emergency situations and conducts investigations and compiles reports as needed; coordinates social programming for residents; trains, oversees and evaluates the performance of assigned student workers including Residential Assistants (RAs). The HRLC models professional and personal conduct that reflects the university values of Character, Compassion, and Community.

This is a 12-month live-in position requiring the HRLC to reside in an apartment in the residence halls and to work flexible hours, including being on-call, i.e. available by phone or in person, nights and weekends. Compensation for the position includes a two-bedroom apartment in the residence halls.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Arranges accommodations for new and continuing residents, including processing and maintaining the room assignment database, filing of forms, applications, contracts, and invoices. This includes the timely response to student inquiries by email and other forms of communication.
  • Trains, supervises, and evaluates the performance of assigned student workers such as Residential Assistants and Desk Attendants; interviews and selects employees; coordinates projects within the residence halls such as health and safety checks.
  • Remains on 24/7 emergency call and responds to emergency situations and incidents appropriately including making temporary room switches and contacting authorities as needed.
  • Collaborates with General Services regarding room condition reports, pre-move-in and post-move-out cleaning schedules, maintenance needs and requests, safety issues, and similar facilities-related issues.
  • Manages residence needs for special groups such as the Program in American Cultural Exchange (PACE), including room assignments, scheduling, check-in and check-out, and coordinating with general services.
  • Regularly updates published information about housing and residence life, including web pages, catalog, residence halls standards of conduct, student handbook, etc.
  • Regularly updates housing applications, housing contracts, RA contracts, and other residence-life related documentation in electronic and hardcopy form.
  • Collaborate with Institutional Research and Effectiveness on the creation of surveys and other tools to assess resident satisfaction and experience.
  • Coordinates social programs with the RA’s; collaborates with General Services for programming supplies and informing the students of the programs.
  • Serves as a member of the Student Life programming group and provides co- and extra-curricular programming for residential students according to the mission and strategic goals of the university and the division of Student Services.
  • Performs relevant conduct investigations and adjudications according to established university policies and procedures.
  • Develops the annual preliminary budget for the residence life program; controls and authorizes expenditures in accordance with established limitations.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of reports, records, and files related to personnel and assigned activities.
  • Operates a computer and assigned software programs.
  • Performs other duties as required, related to the primary job duties of the assigned position.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • One (1) year of experience managing college housing, including the enforcement of student conduct policies and procedures or related experiences.
  • Experience using student information systems and databases.
