Duration: 3 month contract will extend based on project work (we have 2 other members of the team who started as 3 month contract and has been on project for 2+ years)

Project Description:
  • Projects for the year range but for example: POS upgrade (they're currently on Aloha), Digital Menu Board, Pin-pad replacement, etc.
Variety of projects upcoming and for 2025:
  • Pin Pad Replacement (in Peet's coffee bars)
  • Kitchen Display System (new system will have printed stickers per item)
  • Inventory Management System: Either replacing or enhancing in 2025
Duties/Day to Day Overview:
The Retail Business Systems Analyst (BSA), under general direction, is responsible for developing technical solutions and associated process engineering/improvements, in support of business requirements. This requires understanding end to end business processes and providing a point of view on how to leverage existing business systems. Activities include, but are not limited to; business process analysis, data analysis, gathering and documenting business requirements, documenting functional specifications, testing and training. This person will play the role of Project Manager for small to medium sized IT initiatives; following the company's Project Methodology. The BSA will build end-user relationships, triage day-to-day escalations, and perform issue resolution for responsible system domains. This person must be competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of applications systems analysis activities.50% on Business Analyst functions:
  • Requirements in-take/gathering and documentation, prioritization, etc.
  • Identifies impacts and proposes recommendations to current business processes.
  • Partners with stakeholders and business units for requirements gathering (Word, Jira)
  • Identifies and documents functional requirements (BRDs and User Stories), workflow, information sources and high-level system specifications.
  • Develops and evaluates user requirements for new requests/projects.
  • Communicates user requirements to IT development and delivery teams.
  • Communicates with software vendors (development teams)
25% on Testing:
  • Develops testing strategy and creates test scripts.
  • Write and execute User Acceptance Tests.
  • Regression testing.
  • Performs gap analysis.
  • Assists in problem resolution as needed to ensure that customers receive prompt, efficient service in accordance with company policies.
  • Provides 3rd level production support.
15% on Project Management duties (nothing from financial/budgeting ):
  • Resource planning, coordination
  • Facilitates user status meetings.
  • Adheres to Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Methodology.
  • Removing project roadblocks and engineering business solutions to both technical and non-technical problems.
10% on Support:
  • Preparing documentation and knowledge transfer to outsourced helpdesk
Top Requirements (Must haves):
  • 10 years relevant work experience as a business analyst
  • Retail experience POS, inventory management, quick service or restaurant environment
  • Good Microsoft skills, MS Project experience or other project management tools
  • Experience with Jira
  • Hands on experience in writing and executing User Acceptance Tests.
  • Experience with regression testing is necessary.
  • Good trouble-shooting skills with a successful track record of removing project roadblocks and engineering business solutions to both technical and non-technical problems.
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and time management
  • Good business acumen, extremely process oriented.
  • Additional Qualifications (Nice to Haves):
  • Quick Service Point-of Sale and Supply Chain experience preferred.
  • College degree preferred.
