MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provides students with industry-recognized instruction and training.
· Develops and prepares lessons; recommends curricula changes and supplemental materials.
· Administers and corrects tests; logs and maintains progress and attendance.
· Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
· Manages the classroom by moving about the room to tutor, coach, evaluate, and assist each student as the need arises.
· Motivates and counsels students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems or study habits.
· Evaluates and supervise students in an on-the-job training experience.
· Participates in providing hands-on activities for students in the career preparation program.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
· Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional strategies, classroom management and content field
· Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent customer service skills
· High energy level and ability to engage students
· Ability to quickly learn Job Corps methodologies and strategies
· Ability to use different methods and mediums in delivering course material
· Ability to effectively respond to student issues as they arise
· Must be proficient in the use of common computer software (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
· Certified, licensed, or accredited by the State in which the Center is located or by an accredited
professional trade organization.
EXPERIENCE:
· Experience must meet the state or professional trade organization requirements.
· At least two years of teaching experience that would equip applicant with knowledge, skills and ability to perform the related duties of the position.
· Certification by AWS is desired.
· Three years experience as a welder.
· Must possess valid driver’s license.
