Job Overview:

A Buyer II at Cobalt Truck Equipment is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and negotiating goods and services specific to the truck upfitting industry. This role involves analyzing market trends, managing supplier relationships, and collaborating with various departments to fulfill procurement needs related to truck customization and modifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Sourcing and Procurement:

  • Conduct market research within the truck upfitting industry to identify potential suppliers for specialized equipment, parts, and materials.

  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions specific to the truck upfitting requirements.

  • Source, purchase, and manage a wide range of truck customization components and accessories in line with organizational specifications.

Supplier Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers in the truck upfitting industry, ensuring timely communication and issue resolution regarding specialized products.

  • Monitor supplier performance, track deliveries, and manage supplier contracts to ensure compliance with terms and adherence to customization standards.

  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, performance, and product quality to ensure upfitting standards and mitigate risks effectively.

Cost Analysis and Negotiation:

  • Analyze pricing and cost structures for specialized truck upfitting components to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies.

  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost-effective procurement solutions tailored to the truck upfitting industry.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cost reduction strategies specific to upfitting operations.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with engineering and operations teams to understand upfitting requirements and ensure alignment with customization goals.

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to develop accurate procurement requirements and specifications for truck upfitting projects.

Order Management:

  • Create and manage purchase orders for specialized truck upfitting components, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established processes and policies.

  • Monitor order fulfillment, shipping, and delivery schedules to ensure timely receipt of components for upfitting projects.

  • Resolve discrepancies or issues related to orders, invoicing, and delivery specific to truck upfitting requirements.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and industry regulations related to truck upfitting throughout the procurement process.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of purchases, contracts, and supplier-related information specific to the truck upfitting division.

  • Assist in the development and improvement of procurement processes for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness within the truck upfitting domain.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field.

  2. 2-5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or a relevant role within the truck upfitting industry.

  3. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to analyze market trends and pricing structures specific to truck customization.

  4. Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders within the truck upfitting domain.
