Statement of Work:

The Modernized e-File (MeF) platform facilitates electronic filing of returns with the IRS, providing SOA-based web services for submission and web applications for IRS users to process returns. The platform validates returns, determines their disposition, and interfaces with other IRS systems for downstream processing. IBM has been developing and enhancing MeF since 2001.

Task Description:

We are seeking a WebSphere Administrator to install, maintain, and upgrade WebSphere Application Server v8.5.5.x. The role includes developing and maintaining installation scripts using JACL, Maven, and shell scripts.

Primary Duties:

  • Installation, Maintenance, and Upgrade of WebSphere Application Server v8.x (30%)
    • Install, maintain, and upgrade WebSphere Application Server as part of the MeF application.
  • Development of Automated Installation Scripts (30%)
    • Develop and maintain scripts using JACL, Maven, and shell scripts to automate the installation process.
  • Application Integration Testing (30%)
    • Conduct integration testing to ensure applications function correctly within the MeF platform.
  • Documentation (10%)
    • Document software design and code to maintain comprehensive records.

Required Skills/Level of Experience:

  • WebSphere Application Server v8.x Administration and Development: 6 years
  • JBoss and Apache Administration: 4 years
  • Script Development using JACL, Maven, Shell, and Python: 4 years
  • Redhat Ansible Playbook Development: 2 years

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with WebSphere MQ
  • Experience with AWS, Redhat OpenShift, Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Experience with IBM EWM for source code and defect management
  • Experience with Java development

Other Required Skills:

  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Word
  • Engineering Workflow Management (EWM), formerly Rational Team Concert (RTC)
  • CMMi Level 3
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Additional Requirements:

  • Citizenship/Residency: Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien with three or more years of U.S. residency as a Permanent Resident Alien. No H1 visa holders.
  • Background Checks:
    • IRS Minimum Background Investigation MBI/ 58C Tier 2RS clearance required. Permanent Resident or U.S. Citizenship required for MBI/58C Tier 2RS.
    • IRS Full Background Investigation (FBI) clearance required to retain the position.
