Job Summary:

The A-Level Maintenance Mechanic / Machinist role involves providing maintenance support at a cable manufacturing plant. This position demands a detail-oriented individual with a solid grasp of mechanical concepts. The primary focus is on minimizing equipment downtime through effective repairs and suggesting/implementing improvements for future efficiency. Precision in measurements is essential for both machinery repair and installation of new equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring timely and safe equipment repairs within the maintenance department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair machinery
  • Implement preventive and predictive maintenance practices
  • Utilize and manage data within the Computerized Maintenance Management System
  • Support capital projects and expansions as required
  • Maintain a safe working environment with emphasis on 6S principles
  • May occasionally cover supervisory duties
  • Flexibility to work weekends or shifts if necessary

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in machining, welding (repairs and light fabrication), and pipefitting/plumbing
  • Skilled in rigging and motor/pump alignment using dial gauges and lasers
  • Familiarity with using a boroscope for alignment
  • Ability to interpret mechanical prints
  • Knowledgeable in hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Dependable with strong verbal and written communication skills

Education and Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance
  • Associate's degree in Maintenance Industrial Technology preferred
  • Successful completion of a general mechanical aptitude test
