The offer will be determined by a number of factors including the selected candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, FTE, number of months worked, as well as internal equity among our team.

Job Summmary:

Under the direct supervision of the Admissions Director, this role is responsible for ensuring the highest recruitment and admissions service to prospective students and families. Admissions Counselors are managers of their assigned recruiting territory and special population.

The Admissions Counselor is responsible for managing a portfolio to support both traditional, transfer and non-traditional students and increasing the diversity of the St. Scholastica student population by developing long-term relationships between the College and high schools, community colleges, business and industry, community-based organizations and families and students. This work contributes directly to the college’s goal of recruiting a diverse student body, as articulated by the President and documented in the CSS Strategic Plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides a high level of customer service to maintain prospective student engagement and satisfaction.

  • Conducts monthly outreach to school counselors, college readiness counselors and/or internal and external business partners.

  • Represents the College to high schools, community colleges, community based organizations, students, regional and national conferences, businesses, associations and/or the general public/local community.

  • Responsible for designing and implementing programs and events and regular communications that introduce these opportunities for admission, financial aid scholarships and programs at St. Scholastica, both on the St. Cloud and Duluth campuses, as well as online.

Required Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required, experience in higher education, sales, public relations, marketing or business preferred; Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


Competencies:

Communication Skills: This position requires drafting correspondence; proofreading correspondence for spelling, grammar, and content errors; and performing other tasks requiring a significant level of communication skills. Maintain and handle confidential information. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.

Decision Making/Judgment: This position requires independent judgment in setting priorities and organizing work to accomplish results. Some of the responsibilities of this position are performed in accordance with existing procedures and instructions.

Technology Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of and capacity to effectively utilize Database software, Internet software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.

Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment. Lifting and/or carrying objects weighing 5-25 lbs. Pushing or pulling carts, dollies, and the like. Driving an automobile on public roads and highways and overnight travel. Ability to stand for long periods of time and give walking tours of the campus. Proofreading and checking documents for accuracy. Using a keyboard to enter, retrieve or transform data.

Additional expectations of the position:
An extensive amount of travel, often including travel to Duluth the Twin Cities area and within Central MN. Work irregular hours and travel on nights and weekends. Maintaining a valid driver’s license throughout employment.

  • Experience in multicultural recruiting or outreach
  • Experience in student recruitment, education advocacy, or college counseling
