MWH Constructors (MWH), a global leader in heavy civil construction of water and wastewater facilities, is currently seeking a Payroll Administrator on a temporary basis to assist and support all payroll functions required for the processing of timecards and payroll. This position will be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the payroll data, maintenance and day-to-day clerical processes in support of 800+ professional and craft employees.

This position reports to the Payroll Manager and is based out of our Corporate Headquarters office in Broomfield, CO.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for pay period documentation filing to ensure proper record retention.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate processing of employee payroll documents to include direct deposit forms, state and federal tax forms, and verification of tax jurisdictions.
  • Enter all garnishment and child support orders.
  • Responsible for paycheck distribution in accordance with check distribution codes and special instructions.
  • Monitor and maintain Help Desk e-mails including research, responses to the employee along with all necessary follow-up, and data entry corrections/updates. Forward complex issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Complete employment verifications as required.
  • Complete certified payrolls weekly.
  • Interact frequently with employees, field management and various functional work groups to research accounting issues, payroll issues and various Human Resource issues as they relate to the employee paychecks, timecards or FLSA status of the employee.
  • Communicate employee issues and corrections both verbally and in writing to the employee, field management and various function work groups in a professional, concise manner.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Perform payroll research and additional assignments as directed by the Payroll Manager, Controller, or Human Resources personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of payroll experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience with multi-state, Davis Bacon and prevailing wage.
  • Knowledge of relevant Federal/State/local requirements.
  • Knowledge of payroll records and pay practices.
  • Knowledge of all human resource aspects of employee paperwork and its impact on the payroll process.
  • Solid communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Prior work history that demonstrates flexibility and attention to detail.
  • Process oriented and able to work cross functionally in team environments.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of payroll experience preferred.
  • College degree or coursework in Finance, Accounting or related field preferred.

Compensation

  • The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $30-40/hour.
