Highfields, Inc. began in 1962 as a residential camp for troubled boys in Ingham County. Our founders truly believed that with right opportunities and resources, people can change their lives for the better. Since then, we have taken our organization to new levels. We serve about 8,000 people in 13 mid-Michigan counties and are currently seeking a qualified Multisystem Therapist (MST) for our MST Program serving clients in Jackson County and Hillsdale County.

MST is designed to help youths between the ages of 12 and 17 who are experiencing multiple problems. It is an evidence-based practice which communicates with the many systems in the youth's life. This can be parents, neighbors, friends, peers, teachers, religious leaders, etc. MST Therapist works primarily with the parents to teach skills to help better the youth's life.

In this role you will conduct assessments including review of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, and developing an analysis of identified problem behaviors. Informs primary caregiver and other key participants in active change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement. Treatment planning, intervention implementation, outcome review, and strategy revision procedure. Participates in weekly team supervision and consultation.

Services provided are during traditional and non-traditional hours allowing for a flexible schedule. You are not expected to be in the office when not serving clients. All paperwork and documentation may be performed remotely.

Candidate should have a master's degree and a current LARA license in counseling, or the ability to obtain. Interpersonal skills are necessary, along with excellent communication, and a passion for helping others. Experienced in evidence-based treatment models and person-centered planning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, or directly related field.
  • State licensure commensurate with required degree (Consideration given if currently in process of obtaining or ability to obtain.).
  • One year or more experience in providing counseling services to children and families.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Having good interpersonal skills, flexible, hopeful/optimistic, culturally sensitive, and self-aware.
