The Director of Finance provides day-to-day supervision, leadership, and performance management for the Finance and Accounting Departments. These departments are responsible for processing and recording financial transactions through the functions of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and master trust. Additionally, these departments are responsible for performing the month-end process and providing financial reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Supervises the Finance and Accounting Departments, including hiring, performance management, training, and development
• Manages the month-end process and prepares draft financial statements
• Performs monthly variance analysis and explains or resolves unusual variances
• Reviews month-end account reconciliations and journal entries
• Prepares monthly expenditure reports for DCF invoicing and responds and resolves inquiries from DCF
• Prepares and updates DCF’s Budget by Service Category and Functional Budget
• Reviews coding on all invoices greater than $1000
• Supervises the accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate payments to clients, service providers, and vendors
• Supervises the management of master trust funds held for clients, including account reconciliation and disbursement approvals
• Supervises the accounts receivable function, ensuring payments received are posted to the correct accounts
• Monitors daily banking activity and cash and credit account balances
• Responds to audit, tax preparation and fiscal monitoring requests
• Monitors internal accounting controls for efficiency and feasibility and makes written recommendations for changes
• Creates written description for all financial processes for inclusion in the Finance Department’s Standard Operating Procedures manual
• Other duties and projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education/Experience

Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Accounting and four years of accounting experience is required, at least on year experience supervising accounting staff is preferred

• Other Requirements

Ability to successfully clear a Level II background screen

Must carry personal smart phone with data plan for business communications during and outside business hours

• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting programs
• Strong analytical, problem solving, time management and organizational skills

• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
• Ability to travel up to 10%
