ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Environmental and Health & Safety (H&S)
  • Strict adherence to all safety guidelines, rules, policies and procedures.
  • Strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
  • Installing, maintaining, repairing and overhauling equipment.
  • Operational Performance & Best Business Practices
  • May provide training and development to less experienced employees within the department regarding mechanical repair techniques.
  • Special Projects
  • Installing and maintaining electrical controls, circuits, and PLC units.
  • Troubleshooting and identifying worn parts and rebuilding machine assemblies, pumps, meters, valves and valve actuators.
  • Will start up and operate production machinery and equipment.
  • Participation in facility maintenance and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Safe handling and use of various chemicals with strict adherence to Hazardous Communication and MSDS requirements.
  • Will set up and spray Degas Snorkels
  • Troubleshoot and Repair the spray machine and BRI Gun

  • Applicant must have knowledge of pneumatic, electro-mechanical systems and practical knowledge of plant electrical systems.
  • Must have the ability to analyze electro-mechanical devices, trouble shoot failures and implement repairs.
  • Must have written and verbal skills to effectively communicate.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, scaffolds, and access rooftops.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends.
  • Ability to bend, lift 30-60lb, and twist.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) or more years of maintenance experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is a plus.
  • Experience in operating a forklift preferred.
  • High school or technical school education.

JOB CONDITIONS: This position is regularly exposed to all weather conditions. Physical hazards such as noise, fumes, and dirt are present due to the equipment, machinery, and scrap as would be found throughout the scrap yard. Safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, face shields, and additional personal protective equipment as needed, must be worn to eliminate the risks associated with these hazards. Travel is not required for this position.

Handling multiple issues regarding safety and maintenance increases pressure. Work load may be unpredictable, and pressure can be substantial during peak times. Critical deadlines require considerable adaptability. Disturbances of work flow and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on an intermittent basis. Extra hours may be required, sometimes on weekends, weekdays, and holidays.
