Western Forest Products is hiring for an experienced Benchman Sawfiler at our Columbia Vista Division in Vancouver, WA.

Shifts: Wednesday – Saturday, 5:30am – 4:00pm

Successful candidates will be subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing as well as background checks.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fitting and benching both round and bandsaws;
  • Welding on bandsaws;
  • Maintaining guides for both round and bandsaws;
  • Maintaining stellite and carbide teeth, including grinding, replacement and checking of accuracy;
  • Adhering to all plant and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures;
  • Maintaining filing room equipment, such as grinders, tippers and levelers.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 2+ years’ experience in saw filing;
  • Knowledge and understanding of saw tooth geometry;
  • Understanding quality control and processes of manufacturing lumber and cutting tools;
  • Experience or understanding of a production environment;
  • Continuously striving to improve processes to add value to the business;
  • Ability to work in a group to solve problems and support other members of the team;
  • Strong commitment to safety values and experience with LOT.
