JOB SUMMARY

Performs various skilled duties to generate awareness of Iron County as a travel destination through media relations, organizing special events, familiarization tours and social media strategies while facilitating and maintaining partnerships with the tourism industry, media and community partners. Works under the general guidance and direction of the Iron County Tourism Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications include high school graduation or equivalent with two (2) years of marketing, public relations or social media experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Must possess and maintain valid Utah Driver's License.
• Must maintain compliance of Iron County Vehicle Policy - including maintaining an acceptable driving record.
• Attend any required training when needed and/or scheduled.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and maintain compliance of Iron County drug and alcohol policies and guidelines.

Knowledge of Iron County Tourism attractions, activities, and amenities; social media platforms and strategies (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, etc.); various computer applications (i.e. word processing, graphic design layout, web design, photo editing, data entry, database management and spreadsheets).

Ability to identify the unique sellable qualities of the area, meet deadlines and to follow up on projects, events and media strategies after completion to determine "return on investment; follow directions given both verbally and in writing; prioritize and organize responsibilities while adhering to a budget; learn and recommend new and improved procedures; build and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers, community partners, media, elected officials and others; maintain accuracy and attention to detail in work assignments; work unsupervised and accept responsibility for actions; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; distill relevant and useful information from vast amounts of information; understand and follow broad objectives and instructions; read, comprehend and apply rules, regulations and procedures; work non-standard hours, as needed, including some weekends and holidays; travel independently, occasionally long distances and possible outside of the country; work outdoors in various conditions and terrain;

Skilled in providing excellent customer service; operating office machines and equipment; managing stress and meeting deadlines; exercising initiative, independent judgment and resourcefulness in varying conditions; hiking, operating off highway vehicles (OHV'S) skiing or snowboarding preferred.
