Visit Seattle is now hiring for a Destination and Convention Services Specialist. This position is responsible for being the direct point of contact primarily for in-house meeting clients, providing destination services, and conducting planning visits for upcoming confirmed meetings and some conventions. This position is critical to curate the best “Seattle” experience to ultimately drive repeat business and additional referrals to our members and to the destination. This position should differentiate our destination to stand out from all other cities where the groups have recently met. This role is based in Seattle and required to be in the office.
What You'll Do
- Provide proactive services for definite in-house groups while acting as a liaison between our Visit Seattle members and meeting planners.
- Create the best “Seattle” experience for our clients and ultimately increase positive economic impact for our members and the city.
- Support Seattle Convention Center (SCC) in-house consumer shows by crafting a Spotlight communication and providing welcome services.
- Possess curiosity to understand and quantify groups. Translate needs and maintain thorough information and data in all systems and through very consistent internal and external communication.
- Assist meeting planners in organizing specialized planning visits. May include welcoming and escorting meeting planners throughout the city in advance of their meeting.
- Maintain consistent presence and exclusive touchpoints with key contacts when groups are onsite.
- Represent Visit Seattle at company and client sponsored events.
- Assemble and deliver customer gifts to key in-house contacts.
- Supports Managers and Director in managing special projects and department processes.
- Performs other related duties, and assignments as required.
Who You Are
- Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of customer service and/or administrative experience in a hotel, DMO, convention and meeting facility, or destination management company.
- Exceptional customer service skills and positive attitude on the phone, via email, and face-to-face.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Curiosity and inquisitiveness to fully capture group history, as well as future wants and needs.
- Proven ability to work independently while effectively prioritizing and multi-tasking.
- Demonstrated creativity, and effective problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand English, the primary language used in the office.
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
