OVERVIEW

Are you passionate about serving others and seeking an opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization? Prince George’s Christian Academy (PGCA) is currently seeking a dedicated School Nurse to provide essential medical care to our students. As a School Nurse, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of our students while upholding the values and mission of PGCA. This position reports to the school principal and requires collaboration with school leadership, staff, and parents.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide medical assistance for minor ailments and injuries to students.
  • Administer CPR and first aid care when necessary.
  • Conduct health assessments, including taking temperatures and evaluating students’ health needs.
  • Communicate with parents regarding student illnesses or injuries.
  • Ensure compliance with health regulations and maintain confidentiality of student health information.
  • Dispense medications according to state regulations and school protocols.
  • Develop and implement health protocols for students.
  • Maintain inventory and ensure availability of supplies in the health room.
  • Verify immunizations and enter data into the School Information System or State site.
  • Inform families of school exclusions due to illness.
  • Provide education to students on hygiene and safety practices.
  • Assist with other school duties as assigned by school leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passion for education and dedication to serving the Christian community.
  • Membership, in good standing, of a local Bible-believing church, or willingness to become a member.
  • Agreement with our articles of faith and a commitment to uphold them.
  • Standard clinical skills for medication administration.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, with training in defibrillator use.
  • Basic math skills for accurate dosage calculations.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students and parents.
  • Calm and compassionate demeanor when working with children.
  • Effective presentation skills for staff training.
  • Ability to remain focused during medical emergencies.
  • Basic knowledge of relevant laws and nursing practice regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience working with staff, students, and administrators.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or graduate from an accredited nursing school required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience preferred.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Passed the School Nurse Certification exam.
