Position Purpose: Counselors provide direct supervision of campers enrolled in Camp Woodmont.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Counselors play a vital role in developing a positive, safe, and enriching camp experience for every camper.

  1. Counselors lead the campers to activities throughout the day and participate with them in camp activities as required.
  2. Address incidents including sick, injured or belligerent campers.
  3. Counselors will occasionally talk with camper parents.
  4. Counselors must be on the lookout for potentially harmful behaviors and situations and provide clear and concise information regarding camp safety.
  5. Look for support and guidance for their responsibilities by sharing thoughts, ideas and challenges with each other and the Camp Director.

Education and Work Experience Qualifications

Camp Counselors must have finished at least sophomore year of High School.. They are individuals with maturity and skills who enjoy working with children. Prior experience working with children is a must. Individuals with an education background/degree are preferred along with certification in First-Aid and/or CPR. Experience in planning age-appropriate activities is preferred as counselors are involved in the camp master schedule planning process.
