Job DescriptionJob Description

Wilmington College seeks qualified instructors to teach courses in our Prison Education Program, located in Warren Correctional, Dayton Correctional, and Lebanon Correctional Institutions.Instructors must hold a Master's degree in the field of instruction or have at least 18 credit hours of graduate coursework in that field. Courses desired include all courses for a major in Business Administration; English 100 and English 101 (developmental and college composition); Math 099/Math 104/Math 109 (developmental math; high school algebra; college algebra); and any courses that fulfill general education in the Natural Sciences, Fine Arts, or Humanities. The adjunct rate is $800/credit hour, and courses take place within a prison with incarcerated students. Instructors must fill out paperwork for clearance, including a background check, and participate in contractor training. These are in person courses that must be held regularly, and absences will require a substitute instructor. Courses typically meet once a week for 3 hours or twice a week for 90 minutes, with many options in the evenings. Teaching incarcerated students is deeply fulfilling, and you will find that your student body is engaged and excited to learn.

The summer 2024 classes meet from May 13 through August 1.

The fall 2024 classes meet from August 19 through December 11.T
