POSITION REQUIREMENTS (Tasks)

  • Responsible for providing technical support and resources to manufacturing and engineering processes and equipment
  • Ensure that the equipment and processes are maintained at the highest level of safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity
  • Troubleshoot automated equipment failures to determine necessary upgrades and/or repairs
  • Read and understand equipment manuals and electrical schematics
  • Work with Controls/Manufacturing Engineers to develop equipment and controls for new products as well as improve existing equipment (cycle time, scrap reduction, improved quality, etc)
  • Provide support to troubleshoot and recover any problem with robots in production area
  • Help with purchasing of spare parts for assembly equipment
  • Adhere to all safety rules and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILL SET (Preferred Skills)

  • Successful completion of vocational training in Automation, Robotics, Electrical Engineering/mechatronics, or comparable training
  • At least two years of related experience
  • Professional experience in maintenance and with automated systems, focusing on assembly technology
  • Working knowledge of tools, and devices such as torque guns, volt meters, etc
  • Experience with basic electrical systems (e.g., PLC, sensors, fuses, contacts, relays) and with the ability to read and use mechanical and electrical schematics for repairs and troubleshooting
  • Experience with machine control fault codes
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic system components, such as pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, and solenoids
  • Experience with basic handling/movement of robots from teaching pendant, and resetting to home
  • Experience troubleshooting control circuitry (AC/DC power supplies, relays, motors/servos) is required
  • Understanding of all change over activity within assigned cells including tooling, welders, adhesives, etc.

Works at a desk and a computer screen for extended periods of time. Employee must be able to manually enter data to the computer system and understand the screen and images that appear. Frequent movement throughout facility. Frequently lifting up to 5 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or pushing up to 35 pounds. Use of hands to hold, lift and handle materials. Seldom climbing, bending and squatting.

While performing this job, the employee is commonly exposed to noise, heat, and dust. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and toxic or caustic chemicals. PPE is required in this area.
