Peer Support Specialist: Wellness and Recovery Center

Our Wellness and Recovery Center (WRC) is dedicated to peers supporting adult mental health.

Why You'll Love Working with Us:

If you have lived experience with mental health wellness and recovery or have supported someone close to you; have a clean driving record; are available to work two afternoon-evening shifts per week with the occasional opportunity for more hours; and want to support an environment of mutual learning and growth, apply now

What You'll Do (Essential Responsibilities):

  • Support peers at our Pikesville location and during outings, as well as virtually and over the phone.
  • Work as part of a team with the WRC Coordinator and other Peer Support Specialist(s).
  • Drive members locally using our mini-van at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Facilitate activities that promote wellness and recovery and ensure a safe, supportive environment.
  • Prepare and lead engaging discussions and social activities in person and virtually
  • Clean up before the center closes and ensure the Center is tidy.
  • Use our smartphone to stay connected with the team; support members; and manage work email
  • Develop professionally using our online learning system; other relevant training; and peer supervision.
  • Keep records by maintaining WRC sign-in sheets and documenting one-on-one sessions.
  • Adhere to ethical standards ensuring a respectful and supportive atmosphere.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the WRC Coordinator.

Requirements:

  • Personal Experience supporting your mental health wellness and recovery or someone close to you.
  • Reliability and Responsiveness that creates a safe and supportive environment.
  • Experience Driving Minivans is desirable BUT a good driving record is essential.
