Job Summary:

Hughes General Contractors, Inc. is looking for a full-time Yard Hand to join our team. This individual is responsible for organizing tools, and other items in the company's yard, assisting with shop inventory, driving to job sites to deliver/pickup and supplies, and other tasks as needed. This is another great entry point into a fulfilling career in construction.


Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

  • Some knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in construction work
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
  • Ability to repeatedly lift and carry heavy objects (50 pounds)
  • Ability to work alone and be self motivated
  • Ability to work outdoors 90% of the time
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Have an acceptable driving record

  • Material organization and storage
  • Deliver and pick up parts or supplies to various job sites
  • Assist with routine inspections, maintenance, and equipment cleaning
  • Willing to uphold any and all safety practices
  • Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed

This Job Is Ideal for Someone Who:

  • Likes to work outside-- prefers to get their shoes dirty over sitting at a desk
  • Adaptable-- enjoys work that requires frequent shifts in direction
  • Independent-- enjoys working with little direction
  • Dependable-- more reliable than spontaneous

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Entry level positions
  • Safety conscious
  • Valid driver's license
  • Construction experiences not required but preferred
  • Willingness to learn and ability to be taught

Special Requirements: Must be able to pass controlled substance tests prior to and at all times during employment.
