Job Summary
We are a progressive small animal hospital focused on quality patient care. We are looking for a caring Veterinary Assistant who would also assist and fill in as a Receptionist.

Some of the responsibilities of the Veterinary Assistant role include restraining animals as needed such as during exams, the ability to meet the physical demands (lifting 50 lbs. or more), weighing animals and safely escorting them throughout the hospital, animal husbandry which encompasses food, water, bedding, sanitation, waste disposal, etc., cleaning exam tables and rooms and filling prescriptions as directed by the Veterinarian. The Receptionist duties would include answering the telephone, greeting clients, scheduling appointments, processing payments, sending patient reminders and considerately handling client issues.

The ideal candidate has a cheerful disposition, excellent communication and computer skills, has a love for animals and is capable of multitasking.

Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities
  • Restraining animals as needed during exams
  • Animal husbandry (food, water, bedding, sanitation, waste disposal, etc.)
  • Cleaning/preparing exam rooms and kennels
Receptionist Responsibilities
  • Greet and check in clients upon arrival
  • Answer phone calls and schedule appointments
  • Process client payments during checkout
  • Assist in managing client reminders
  • Considerately handle client issues.

Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a receptionist is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Familiar with computers and scheduling software
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
