Job DescriptionJob Description

Summary

Field Technicians report directly to the Field Operations Supervisor. This is an intermediate skill level position that requires an individual who demonstrates excellent technical and computer skills, efficient grasp of troubleshooting methods, good documentation, and communication skills. Understands the construction, sign, and AV industries. Demonstrates the motivation and personality traits to professionally represent Watchfire as a field operation technician. This person will be responsible for safely and professionally installing, troubleshooting, and repairing Watchfire products at customer locations throughout the US, Canada and some South and central American countries.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Project Management and the Field Operations Supervisor to be aware of assigned installation or maintenance projects/jobs.
  • Work with project management to understand project details, equipment needed, installation timelines, jobsite layout, etc.
  • Interpret product and project drawings, technical details, and specifications.
  • Communicate with jobsite installers and contractors ahead of travel date to verify installation/project objectives and schedule. Provide any additional information the contact(s) may request.
  • Provide advice, instruction on Watchfire best practices, technical information, and assistance to others regarding the installation, troubleshooting, repair work on the jobsite.
  • Verify through testing that installations, troubleshooting, and repair were successful. Provide feedback and communicate with relevant Watchfire personnel to assist with obstacles delaying successful completion of a job.
  • Communicate with customers or representatives to keep them informed on jobsite progress and outcomes.
  • Provide initial training to customers on Watchfire software and sign operation.
  • Manage, organize, and submit required after action reports and other documentation to include expense, installation, maintenance, etc. in accordance with set deadlines.
  • Assist the Project Management team and Field Operations Supervisor with analyzing field ops methods and processes, to identify areas for improvements in safety, efficiency, and quality of work. Assist with documentation where required of said methods and processes.
  • Be proficient or willing to become proficient with the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, Watchfire proprietary display control software such Ignite OP, Ignite OA, Ignite OPX and Ignite Sports. Watchfire Pyro, and numerous 3rd party websites such as ADP and Expensify that watchfire uses for various tasks.
  • Be proficient in the use of 3rd party AV software such as Motion Rocket, Pro Presnter, Vmix, and Novastar configuration.
  • Regularly attend training and maintain proficient knowledge of Watchfire products and their technical details, past, present, and future.
  • Train and maintain proficiency on additional subjects important to Watchfire that may be assigned and stay informed of general industry practices and standards.
  • Work at elevated heights while wearing OSHA approved PPE without fear or trepidation.
  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, & crouch in and around tightly configured spaces on jobsites. Must consistently lift and carry 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds.
  • A significant amount of out-of-town/state travel for jobsite visits is required. The vast majority are multi-day lasting 3 to 4 days but could be longer. Travel will usually be weekly.
  • Hours are not strictly daytime M-F. NOTE: Travel and tight deadlines will require additional hours and weekends. Overtime may be required and commonly occurs.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experienced and familiar with OSHA regulations 1910 and 1926, safety protocols and best practices when working in and around construction sites, lifting and rigging with cranes, various types of aerial work platforms, hand tools, diagnostic equipment,
  • Ability to make travel arrangements following the Watchfire travel policy for North and occasionally South American destinations.
  • Proficient in reading/writing/typing in English. Comprehend written, visual, and verbal instructions. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience in presenting information in small group situations.
  • Excellent reasoning and logistical skills related to troubleshooting, planning and coordination of events.
  • Demonstrated ability to work reliably and almost entirely without direct supervision. Able to self-identify next steps and self-motivate to accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and contractors in a professional and effective manner.
  • Exceptional teamwork, communication, time management, data processing, multi-tasking skills.
  • The ability to quickly understand and comprehend critical concepts and issues is required.
  • Completion of 10hr in OSHA 1910 and/or 1926 within 3 months of hire date.
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills. Working knowledge of computer networking concepts and networking skills.
  • Demonstratable experience in the PRO AV industry.
  • (2) written work-related recommendations from previous/current employers, or instructors, or co-workers.

Required Education and Licensing

  • Minimum 1 year of similar work experience with an Associates of Science in a computer networking or AV related field; or a Bachelor of Science in a AV or computer networking related field; or minimum 3 years of sign industry and/or Pro AV work experience.
  • Strong experience with computers, internet, smart phone/tablet, and Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Valid State Driver’s License, clean driving record, and current U.S. Passport or the ability to get and maintain one in a reasonable timeframe.
  • 6 CEUs in telecom, electronics, industrial wiring, and/or safety within the previous two years is advantageous.
  • Avixa CTS and/or CTS-I certification preferred. Will be a required as a condition of continued employment if hired.
