PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  • The Clinical Assistant is the initial point of contact for visitors, vendors, staff and callers and must maintain a professional yet friendly demeanor.
  • Performs all clerical functions of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
  • Assist the WIC staff in the WIC certification process of participants.
  • Explains the WIC Program and its benefits to participants, and assist with WIC Program promotion/education and outreach for the purpose of maintaining and increasing participant utilization.


MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Thrives in being an active member of the WIC Program and CoAction Team.
  • Completes and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the reception area.
  • Answers the telephone in a timely manner and greeting participants in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Responsible for screening and scheduling potential WIC participants via phone, face to face and mailing systems.
  • Follows-up with participants regarding scheduled and missed appointments.
  • Responsible for general clerical duties in the daily operation of the WIC office.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Possesses High School Diploma or GED equivalent minimally.
  • WIC experience or knowledge of the program desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of clerical work (filing, data entry, telephone etiquette, etc.) required.
  • Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, service oriented with attention to detail.
  • Bilingual not required, but preferred.
