Summary

The Director, Public Finance is responsible for developing and maintaining public finance relationships with school districts across the state of Minnesota. Assess client needs related to capital financing and other financial strategic planning and develop appropriate solutions. Coordinate internal activities in support of clients. Partners with the Vice-President Managing Director Public Finance and respective leadership teams reporting progress of projects and gives recommendations after reviewing proposed projects.


Essential Functions

1. Demonstrate exceptional internal and external service with clients, along with the core values: Integrity, Commitment and Performance.

2. Develop and maintain exceptional, long lasting client relationships.

3. Entrepreneurial mindset that actively seeks to understand needs of public school districts and provide high value support through tailored services designed to exceed client expectations.

4. Steward of compliance, coordinates with company staff to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations and reports.

5. Serve as key contact for school district clients on capital financing, referendum planning and strategic financial planning engagements.

6. Participate in marketing products and services through direct client outreach, conferences, workgroups, digital/social and other venues as needed.

7. Attend and present at meetings requested by clients, including those with administration, governing bodies and/or committees.

8. Assist with the preparation and review of materials related to school district bond financing including rating agency presentations, finance plans, board presentations, official statements, term sheets, engaging with coworkers as needed.

9. Evaluates client debt profiles and debt management practices.

10. Collaborate with Investment Services school sales staff regarding relevant cross-selling opportunities.

11. Participates in regular department and Minnesota office meetings.

12. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.


Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related is required. A Master’s degree (MBA, MS, MA) is preferred.

3-5 years of relevant professional work experience is required with ten or more years related years of experience preferred.

Licenses/Registrations and/or Certifications

Regulatory Licenses Preferred: Series 50.
