GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Under direct supervision, as assigned from either the Supervisor or the Team Lead, ensures parts and products are received, warehoused, picked, packed and/or shipped in a high quality/cost effective manner. Utilizes previous experience and skills to fill in as an operator for any absenteeism. Provides the necessary technical training and cross-training each associate and co-associate needs to accomplish their assigned job in accordance with performance expectations. Keeps the Operations Supervisor and Team Lead advised on associate relations issues related to policy and procedure compliance. Serves as the subject matter expert for their assigned area. Ensures operators are following standard work and achieving the required cycle time for their assignments.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
  • Utilizes previous work experience and skills learned to fill in as an Operator 1 or 2, anywhere in the department, when normally assigned operators are absent or not available. Performs all necessary job requirements of the operator during that time.
  • Ensures all stations are set up and necessary tools are available to meet daily pick/pack/ship requirements.
  • Trains and provides cross training for each newly assigned or hired associate/co-associate in the technical requirements of the assigned position/station for both quality and productivity. Training is to include, as a minimum, proper picking and packing methods, work verification requirements/procedures and quality requirements.
  • Performs verification of work procedures and retrains operators as required to ensure product specifications are met.
  • Communicates with appropriate cross-functional team members to ensure processes are followed and any problems are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Identifies and records any problems relating to the product, process, or systems.
  • Initiates, recommends, and provides solutions through appropriate channels and verifies implementation.
  • Creates, maintains, and reports needed data, documentation, and paperwork.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains safe and productive work environment by assuring the work area is clear of tools, brooms, debris, and other items that may present a hazard.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
  • Must be able to work overtime as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Education:

  • High School Diploma/Equivalent required.

Experience:

  • Two plus years of experience as a material handler.
  • Previous forklift experience preferred.
  • Efficient in Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Work requires periodic stooping/bending and frequent walking/standing throughout day.
  • Requires occasional lifting of objects less than 25 pounds as well as occasional lifting of objects 25 to 50 pounds.
  • Work involves activities that require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, or vehicles.
  • Requires use of protective clothing.
