This rewarding career opportunity is ideal for a person with previous banking experience in administrating consumer loans. This position is responsible for performing administrative and underwriting duties in support of the Bank’s consumer lending function.
What are the responsibilities?
- Reviewing and analyzing consumer loan applications received from the bank’s offices to determine feasibility of approval and then processing loans through loan underwriting software;
- Computing qualifying ratios and analyzing credit worthiness;
- Requesting and obtaining all information required in order to make loan decisions;
- Contacting sales staff to discuss missing items or questions pertaining to the loan request and making sure all conditions are met;
- Determining if loans fit into guidelines for specific product and, if not, recommending alternative products;
- Making recommendations for approval or rejection of loans within defined limit of authority;
- Determining and recommending the terms and conditions of the loan, and preparing loan for next level of approval authority as and when required;
- Examining conditions pertaining to loan closings by reviewing all items received, completing tracking items and moving loans to document generation; and
- Responding to inquiries or requests for information; maintaining appropriate records; and, providing assigned reports.
What are the Required Qualifications?
Required:
- A high school diploma or GED;
- Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills;
- Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills;
- Proficient PC skills, including a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; and
- Proficient decision making and analytical skills.
Preferred:
- A minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a related position is normally required.
- A thorough knowledge of consumer loan products and loan documentation, as well as lending regulations and procedures; and,
- A thorough knowledge of Bank operating policies and procedures.
