JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for maintaining yard flow of all traffic entering a PODS gated property. Provide directional assistance for inbound IF trucks, dock freight delivery and pickups, and all vendors and visitors. Must be capable of cross-training on Hub Clerk responsibilities. Must be capable of interacting professionally with all associates in a team environment over wireless radio. Responsible for employing traffic control devices to ensure gate check in process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all vehicles entering the property stop and receive direction.
  • Direct truck drivers to assure optimal trailer placement location
  • Review IF driver paperwork against inbound containers for accuracy.
  • Radio office with Inbound and Outbound load information so paperwork can be prepared.
  • Visually inspect inbound loaded customer container exteriors for any damage that could result in water penetration.
  • Provide directional guidance based on IF cross dock staging lanes, parts & intermodal dock deliveries, LTL freight delivery/pickups, local trucks, and vendor visits.
  • Answer inbound phone calls.
  • Cross train on Hub Clerk responsibilities and fill in when needed.
  • Employ traffic control devices - traffic cones, barricades, signs, gate, etc.
  • Report as well as help prevent any accidents, hazards, or violations to company policy.
  • Keep check of inventory of all traffic devices.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism with all visitors, associates, and work to establish a positive rapport with every contact.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe and secure traffic booth.
  • Follow all SOP and safety guidelines.
  • Maintains a high level of quality in work performed
  • Operate Forklift as needed for loading, unloading, etc.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Typically reports to Management. Direct supervisor job title(s) typically include: Mgr - Cross Dock Warehouse Operations

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 0-2 years relevant experience
  • Ability to obtain Forklift Driver Certification
  • Excellent customer interaction skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Experience working with logistics software systems will be a plus
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for up to 8 hours a day; Ability to use hands and fingers to type on a keyboard and use a mouse to navigate; Vision sufficient to view small details on a computer monitor
  • Ability to stand and walk up to 8 hours a day; Ability to stoop, bend and lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to hear and verbally communicate using a telephone handset and/or connected headset device

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regular business hours. Some additional hours may be required.
  • Travel requirements: Negligible
  • Climate-controlled office environment during normal business hours. May be subjected to inclement seasonal weather conditions if position calls for working in a warehouse or factory environment, or traveling to/from various locations
  • Regular attendance and punctuality required
  • May be subject to pre-employment criminal background check and/or drug screening as well as random drug screenings in accordance with company policy
